Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao Arrives in US for Diaz Fight

Filipino boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has arrived in the US for his fight with David Diaz. Manny, three-time world champion of the Philippines will go head to head with Chicago-born WBC world lightweight champion David Diaz at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The fight will be aired live on HBO Pay-Per-View on Saturday (June 28, 2008), entitled Diaz vs. Pacquiao - "Lethal Combination."



Manny made his grand arrival at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas last Tuesday, June 24.



Last Monday (June 23) though, both Manny and David Diaz met at the Santa Monica Pier, California, where Top Rank promoter Bob Arum had arranged their press conference. At the press conference "Billy the Goat" looked on. Chicago-born WBC lightweight champion David Diaz proclaimed that when he defeats three-time world champion Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines it will lift the curse at Wrigley Field. The Curse of the Billy Goat is a curse on the Chicago Cubs that was started in 1945.



And to top off the pre-fight excitement was Pacquiao's quote regarding Billy the Goat--"I liked the goat. Goat is my favorite food." And envisioning Manny saying that, I just couldn't help but burst out in laughter.
